D is for Documentary

Another screening of Mondo Condo, this time in Toronto on Thursday night, as part of the CFC's monthly World of Shorts program. Looks like a great bill. It includes Farewell Packets of Ten, a short I caught at last year's Worldwide Short Film Fest and loved. As well, I'm looking forward to seeing a bit of Brian Stockton's Saskatchewan Trilogy.
Here's the full rundown:
D is for Documentary

April is the month when Toronto gets doc-happy. Come and get your fill of short docs from Canada and beyond, featuring intricate sewn portraits in UNIVERSAL MOVEMENT MACHINE, a candid discussion on why two elderly Irish women can’'t give up smoking in FAREWELL PACKETS OF TEN and a very funny look at former US president’s special requirement light-weight summer trousers in FULL METAL SLACKS. Don’t miss this documentary fiesta!

DATE & TIME: Thursday, April 17 @ 7:00 p.m.

LOCATION: NFB Mediatheque, 150 John St (at Richmond West)

INFORMATION: 416 973 3012 or nfb.ca/mediatheque

Screen Scene

Didn't want to post the yield of my screenprinting course until I knew pal Kristy had received the shirt I made her in the mail - nothing worse than a surprise ruined by indiscrete blogging!

More Miscellany

A handful of new portraits are up, though I'm still behind in my scannage. As well, I'm doing a new weekly city quiz cartoon for the Post Toronto section. Check it.

Bits and Bobbins

- Guess who's doing the music for our short film? A fabulous nonogenarian named Irving Fields. Check out his YouTube anthem.

Portrait Project

I'll be doing one portrait a day until I can't do one portrait a day anymore. Not allowed to spend more than an hour on each one.

Long Live Irony

This is my catch-all site - art projects, journalism, weird experiments, all founded in the general belief that irony is not dead, regardless of what Graydon Carter says.

Dress and Suit

A joint blog where me and the Mr. post our thoughts on fashion and design, and I chronicle my year of not shopping. (I've cheated once.)

The Portrait Gallery

The government has been all kinds of annoying when it comes to creating a respectable National Portrait Gallery of Canada. So we built one in our garage this summer!
